Heartworm Testing

We recommend having your dog checked annually for heartworms by a simple but very accurate blood test we perform onsite in less than 10 minutes.

Heartworms are thin spaghetti sized parasites that live within the bloodstream,….adults are usually within the right ventricle of the heart, while the microscopic larva circulate within the peripheral blood stream. They are transmitted exclusively through the bite of a mosquito who has recently bitten an infected dog. It is best to check any dog who is over the age of 7 months before placing them on preventive once monthly medications. Younger puppies can be placed on the medicine without any preliminary check.
